Nowadays everyone's always looking for the perfect edit or theme for their Instagram pics/feed. We get it, guilty as charged. And that's why we are sharing all our secrets for how we achieve the perfect edits on our pics.
Below you will read about our top 6 apps that we use to edit our pics. Be sure to follow us on Insta @chicbeaches to keep up with all of our edits.
1. Lightroom cc
Our #1 go-to editing app is Lightroom. For those who don't use this app on a daily basis like Alex and I, you don't understand what a game changer this app truly is when it comes to editing.
This app is free to download and use, however there are a few extra features that come at a price, such as the selective tool and healing tool. The creative cloud suite can be expensive and if you don't already have a subscription, I think you'll be fine with the free version. For reference, a subscription to Lightroom costs about $10 a month.
Personally, I use the free version and have downloaded other more affordable apps to supplement the Lightroom features I do not have access to. We'll talk more about this in the next section.
So in the Lightroom app, you have your basic editing options that everyone needs. For example, Light, Color, Effects, and Detail. No doubt about it I never edit a picture without adjusting a setting in one of these sections. So lets back-up for a second. Before I even touch these sections I always start my editing process by adding a preset to my image.
When I first started using presets I used to watch YouTube videos to learn how to create them on my own. However, over the past few months, so many Influencers have created preset packages, which are usually really cute and hard to pass up on. With that said, Alex and I decided to purchase one of Aspyn Ovard's preset packages. We paid $50 for the package, which was a little steep, but since we both use it for our Instagram account, splitting the cost wasn't too bad. The package comes with 5 different presets, blogger, color, home, outdoor, and summer. I can confidently say that we use outdoor the most, but the others do come in handy when you have a picture taken in competently different lighting than the rest of your pics.
You can view all of Aspyn's preset packages here.
So when working with presets, its important to know that you can't just slap the filter onto a bunch of your pictures and expect them to all look the same. Since most likely the colors and lighting may be different in each image you're editing, you have to adjust accordingly.

2. Touch Re-Touch
This app is about to be your new best friend. Ever have a photo-shoot and notice people are constantly walking by in the background? Or realize someone thought it would be funny to photobomb you, when its not...? Or maybe you just want a picture on the beach with a less crowded background...like us. Well whatever it may be, we've all been there, and that's where this app comes in handy.
Unfortunately this is not a free app, but for $2.99, its totally worth it and takes the place of the healing tool offered at an additional cost in the Lightroom app.
Basically how it works is, you take an image with a busy background and you just start using the object removal button. It replaces whatever you're removing with a clone of the background next to it. Here is a before and after image so you have a better idea of what were talking about:
If you have something super small that needs to be fixed, you can use the quick repair tool. It does the same thing as the object removal button, but is best used for small, quick repairs like in the image below.
3. FaceTune 2
This has been a recent addition to out editing app collection. We like to use this app to whiten images. Its no secret that we have a very specific style to our Instagram feed, and whitening the whites is all apart of the process.
This app also offers a variety of features that you can use, however, we just use it for one specific reason.
This app is free to download. See a before and after below:
We love this app because it offers so many unique photo editing features.
Our number one go to feature is the dust filter. We typically use the second dust option but there are so many different ones to choose from.
We use the other features in this app less but you might see one of them in our story every now and then. Below are a few of the settings that we think are fun and unique.
This is a paid app. It costs $2.99 in the app store, which is totally not bad for what your getting. This app also offers basic editing features like the Lightroom app.
This app is so fun to play around with and is perfect for any bathing suit pic.
This is another paid app, but it only costs .99 cents! In this app you get 11 different glitter colors that you can decorate your clothes, body, or background with. Get creative!
We hope you enjoyed this post. Tell us in the comments if you have any other photo editing favs, and be sure to tag us in your insta pics if you give any of the above apps a try. Tag us @chicbeaches.
