While there are a TON of restaurants throughout Miami, it can often be hard to find the ones catered towards a healthy lifestyle. If your anything like Alex and I, and have food allergies or sensitivities, eating at your typical greasy burger place is not an option. We are always on the hunt for a healthy menu, so here are our top three healthy restaurants in Miami.
1. Simple foods
Simple offers a very fresh, healthy menu with ingredients sourced locally and organically. Everything on the menu can be made to order, which is very beneficial to anyone struggling with food allergies/ food sensitivities. The fact that the menu items are so fresh, makes you feel good after eating here too. You don't leave feeling bloated and unhealthy, but rather more ready to take on the day, which in our opinion is the best way to feel on vacation.
The store is run by two sisters, Shankti & Anto, who really believe in the power of eating healthy and simply. They are both so kind and really care about the food they are providing their customers. We only wish more restaurants were run by people like Shankti & Anto.
While we weren't able to try everything on the menu at Simple, since we were so full from our lunches, one thing we thought was cool was their variety of bakery items. What’s so unique about their bakery selection is that certain items are vegan, gluten free, or both. Truely something for everyone.
If everything we've mentioned has your mouth watering, you can visit Simple at 8602, 628 6th St, Miami Beach, FL. It’s close relativity to the beach makes it the perfect stop for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even just a snack. You can order take out or dine in. The space is adorable and mainly made up of counters with bar stools instead of tables.
Overall, we loved Simple and it is now one of our Miami favorites. We only wish we lived closer and had the opportunity to eat here more often. Hopefully some of you will enjoy Simple foods the next time you visit Miami. You can check out their website and menu here.
2. News cafe
The next restaurant on our list is one that is immensely popular and we've visited a few times before. It is easily one of our favorites. This place not only has great food but also has a great vibe, right off the beach on Ocean Drive. We have only stopped in for breakfast but they do have a lunch and dinner menu as well. You can find the full menu on their site here.
Another reason we love News Cafe is because of the staff. The very first time we went to News Cafe, we had the sweetest little old man as our waiter. He was so kind and having him a our server was a vey memorable experience. This time around, the staff was just as friendly. Always stopping by to make sure we had enough coffee and to see if we needed anything else. They truly go above and beyond and it just makes your experience at News Cafe a great one. We also love the fact that News Cafe has a unique dining area inside and out.
Overall, we love this restaurant and I don't think Alex and I will ever visit Miami without stopping here. We love the healthy food they serve, but we love our friends at News Cafe more.
3. Pura Vida
We both decided to try the acai bowls. One of us got the Bali Crunch which is topped with vegan gluten free granola, shaved coconut, goji berries, cacao nibs, and almond butter. And the other one got the PB Energy, toped with vegan gluten free granola, strawberries, goji berries, almonds, and cocoa nibs. Both were very tasty and filling.
Overall, we loved the acai bowls from Pura Vida. They were full of flavor and had the best toppings. The store was beautifully designed and it made stopping in for something to eat a whole adventure. Our favorite part was the chair swing. Nothing beats eating an acai bowl while swinging around.
We only hope we get to visit another Pura Vida location in the future. Pura Vida are you coming to New Jersey anytime soon?
Full disclosure, we worked with these three restaurants for collaborations on this blog. However, these are our true feelings and opinions on each restaurant.
